| 2. This assignment is to design the PI controller. "Design" means select the tuning parameters for the controller. The parameters are the controller gain (Kc) and the integral time constant (tau-I). |
| 3. We'll use the Ziegler-Nichols tuning which is supposed to give quarter decay response to a step change in set-point. The formulas are on page 306 and page 320 of Smith and Corripio. (Use both sets of formulas.) |
| 4. Use these formulas to find the parameters. Be sure to observe the guidelines on page 304 about significant figures. |
| 5. Send e-mail that reports what your values of the tuning parameters are.
