Engineering 328 Control Systems

  Instructor:

Principles and Practice of Automatic Process Control, 3rd Edition, by Carlos Smith and Armando Corripio, Wiley..
 Pre-Requisites:
ENGR 225, 248, 271, 272 or 270, MATH 245
  Co-Requisite:
ENGR 329

Quizzes: There will be a 5-minute quiz at the beginning of each class.

Exams: There will be an in-class exam in the 4th week. There will be another one later and then a final exam as per the schedule.

Attendance: Your contribution to the class is important for all concerned. After two absences, your letter grade will drop by one letter each miss. After two "lates," each late will be equal to an absence.

Behavior and Dress Codes:
No alcohol or drugs on days before class or lab or conference with Dr. H.
No loud noises without prior warning
Shirt or blouse with collar and sleeves. Jeans, pants or slacks. Shoes
SPECIAL IF PRESENTING: No holes, rips, stains or bleach marks on clothes.
Any exceptions may be approved if you appeal to Dr. H.

  Grading:
50 Performance Credits (based on work done: quizzes, HW, notes & Exams)
20 Peer Assessment (based on surveys of team members)
10 Attendance, class participation & contributions
20 Final

  Grading:
90 +   A  
80-90 B 
70-80 C
65-70 D
0-65   F

Statements: If you find that personal problems (career questions, study and time management difficulties or anything else) are adversely affecting your successful progress at UTC, please contact the Counseling and Career Planning Center at 425-4438.

Conditions for submitting homework

1. Do as much as you can of the assignment
2. Submit the assignment on 8-1/2 x 11 paper
3. Write on one side only
4. At the top of the first page put your name, the date due, the assignment
5. For each problem, state the assignment
6. In each problem, show and describe all your steps
7. Fold the left side over & write your name & date on the outside


Conditions for resubmitting homework and exams

1. Do the complete assignment
2. Resubmit the original graded assignment
3. Attach a statement of what you learned by resubmitting the assignment. This statement is to contain 25 words or more.
